I is for Istanbul

I is for Istanbul and other places in Turkey!

Here's a shot of Ephesus:

And here're tulips in Istanbul!

I've blabbed about Turkish food before - my favourite is pide, which I can't make at home, and I also love börek, which I make all the time!

I often wish I could shop at a market like this all the time:

Where have you travelled to lately?
And what's your favourite food?

Comments

It's been a while since I ventured outside the USA. Favorite food is Thai. I like spicy.
Hi Deniz .. Greek food! I make spanokapita quite often and love having salads everyday .. but yes - a market like that would be delicious!!

The idea of a plate of pide, while the borek parcels are always very flavoursome ..

Love the photos too .. cheers Hilary

I had Thai food the other day, Alex!
I love 'em all, Hilary - Greek, Turkish, Lebanese, Armenian...
I agree, Carolyn - wish I was there right now!

Thanks to everyone who's commented over the past few days - I swear I'll reply and come visit you all as soon as all my overtime at work is over!

The Pide looks delicious. Why can't you make it at home?

I would love to visit Turkey someday, it seems like they've got some good-looking men. :) Of course the food and the culture and the belly dancing are of great interest as well. :)

Thanks for coming by everyone!
My mom and I keep saying we'll try it some day, Sara - the dough has to be perfect, the meat ground really really fine, the spices just right, and the oven... well, it seems to work best in a wood-fired oven...

Beautiful... fun part about shopping in most Istanbul markets is that you get to negotiate the price.
