IWSG Day! and Barcelona Photos 3/4

Thank you to everyone who hosted, reviewed and/or commented during the month of my book tour!

Today is Insecure Writer's Support Group day!

Insecure Writer’s Support Group Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!

Posting: The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group day. Post your thoughts on your own blog. Talk about your doubts and the fears you have conquered. Discuss your struggles and triumphs. Offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling. Visit others in the group and connect with your fellow writer - aim for a dozen new people each time - and return comments. This group is all about connecting!

The awesome co-hosts for the October 5 posting of the IWSG are Tonja Drecker, Victoria Marie Lees, Mary Aalgaard, and Sandra Cox!

Every month, we announce a question that members can answer in their IWSG post. These questions may prompt you to share advice, insight, a personal experience or story. Include your answer to the question in your IWSG post or let it inspire your post if you are struggling with something to say.

This month's question:
What do you consider the best characteristics of your favorite genre?

You ready?
Let’s rock the neurotic writing world!

Ooh, that's fun to answer! My favourite part of a romance is the sparks that fly just before the first kiss or the first moment the characters hold hands. The build up to that moment is delicious if it's well written and well placed!

ROW80: I'm gearing up for NaNo! And still typing up Larksong. So it's nice to look back on nice vacation photos...

I can see why you love romance so much, but I really like it as a subplot in another genre. Good luck gearing up for NaNo. I'm not doing it but hope to spend more time writing.

I love that spark in romance as well! Great choice!
Those photos are fabulous - thanks for sharing!
I'm looking forward to NaNo too. I'm only halfway through my current draft so I may have to be a rebel and work on 2 books again :)
Cool photos. And that is a scary amount of colorful shoes.

Good luck with NaNo.
Looks like your vacay was all kinds of fun.

Wow! Thank you for sharing those pictures from your visit to the Picasso Museum. That brought many memories back. What a gifted artist. I also appreciated that reminder it's time to begin prepping for NaNo. Yep. Not sure exactly how. Maybe you'll share some strategies???
Hi Deniz - ooh lots here ... oh little lad - wonderful pic and complete absorption! Shoes, Shoes and shoes - what fun ... pretty stationery ... Catalonian food and drink & cakes - yes please! Gungy fingers ... good lad!

Then Picasso ... whoa - lots ... including one lad becoming a Meninas for a brief time - I hope he wasn't crushed!?

Sounds like a fun time ... cheers Hilary

Thank you, all!

Ooh, Beth, let's see, tips... Two of my favourite habits to develope are to stop writing each day with a conflict or a question to be resolved at the next day's writing session, so that I don't have to start with a blank page; and to line up as many prompts and notes about my characters' arcs as I can before starting NaNo. I've got the Ask Me Anything questions on my blog (in the pages at the top) and I've got writers' exercises from thelitforum, and since August I've been making notes about what needs to happen and what my characters' motivations are. I hope it's enough!
The Surrey International Writers' Conference was also a great help, and fun, too!
