IWSG Day, Nyon, and Baking with Samba Part 8

Insecure Writer's Support Group

Today is Insecure Writer's Support Group Day!
Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!
Posting: The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group day. Post your thoughts on your own blog. Talk about your doubts and the fears you have conquered. Discuss your struggles and triumphs. Offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling. Visit others in the group and connect with your fellow writer - aim for a dozen new people each time - and return comments. This group is all about connecting!

Let’s rock the neurotic writing world!

The awesome co-hosts for the April 1 posting of the IWSG are
Melissa Maygrove, Cathrina Constantine, Kate Larkinsdale, and Rebecca Douglass!

Every month, we announce a question that members can answer in their IWSG post. These questions may prompt you to share advice, insight, a personal experience or story. Include your answer to the question in your IWSG post or let it inspire your post if you are struggling with something to say.

April 1 question - If you have a playlist (or could put one together) that either gets you in the groove to write or fits with one of your books, what is it? What type of music or what songs?

DO I???

Of course I do! I have playlists coming out my ears! I tend to have a separate playlist for each story, and they're all collected on my YouTube channel! (I've tried before to sync with spotify, but spotify does not include a lot of the songs I have.)

Sometimes it's a particular vibe I'm trying to achieve (space travel!) and other times it's a particular era. Here are my dedicated playlists for the 80s!

I haven't kept track of all the baking classes I've taken with Samba Schutte. Based on the 2025 crafts roundup, and the last numbered post, part 6, mac 'n' cheese!, I think this was the eighth class... There are seven videos up on the bemomentus YouTube channel, though, so who knows!

This time around, it was a joint class with Con O'Neill. Cheesecake time!

We also had a day out in Nyon, a rare sunny day between chilly windy days before and after... We even got snow!

Here are all the photos!

Have you baked a special dessert recently?

Those are some incredible pictures. Thanks for sharing. No, I don't really bake, so I can't say I've made a special dessert recently. Did pick a few wild blackberries.
April is the ideal time to refresh goals and turn small daily actions into major wins, utilizing the season's new energy for growth.

That's some dark beer you are drinking.
I have a YouTube playlist as well. I like having a visual with the music.

Lovely photos! Now I want to go back to europe...or not. Politics. At any rate, I miss the food there.

I love that you have a YouTube playlist for your books! I used to keep a playlist on my computer of inspirational songs for when I was struggling, but now four computers later... I would have been better going in online like you.

Love the photos, especially the first two. The beers are making me thirsty, but then I remember it's just 9 AM!

Great photos. They inspire me. Perhaps I should book some travels, too, this year.
I've been trying really hard lately NOT to make any desserts. Getting old sucks. I have to laugh about the playlists--this is starting to be one of those questions where people are either "well, of course I do" or "nope, no way, give me quiet when I'm working."

Yup...I've got several playlists. Is that a cheesecake you were making? Yum! Your photos are always inspiring.
