Titanic Photos and Roundup

Titanic!

In 2019, we held a writers' houseparty set on the Titanic.

Here's the scene when my characters boarded Collapsible Boat B:

There's also a playlist for the houseparty!

After that, I wrote a This Week in History: Titanic post.

I've seen random items off the Titanic before:

A lifebelt!

Posters at McKibbin's Pub!

Titanic exhibit at Scarborough and knitted items from the Titanic!

Our latest visit was to the newly opened Titanic exhibit in Lausanne:

I hadn't seen a map of the iceberg's journey before!

A romantic postcard

On entry to the exhibition, you receive a boarding pass with a passenger's name on it -- I got Ida Straus

A first class cabin

A third class cabin, complete with the sound of the boilers nearby

Coal

I forgot to take a photo of the replica iceberg!

Officer Lightoller, the only one that went back for more survivors. He also kept alive the survivors on Collapsible Boat B, which had landed upside-down. It's his boat that my characters were on

A light display showing the actual size of a lifeboat

A video from the 2010 expedition

The remains of the Titanic are expected to fully dissolve in 40 to 90 years

Views from the boat

Do you have any interesting stories involving the Titanic?

Hi Deniz - it must have been a fascinating exhibition to have been able to see. I've obviously 'followed' along over the years re the stories about the Titanic ... I only remember in our school church there was a plaque dedicated to those lost from the Headington area of Oxford ... 15th April 1912 - that I remember! Not something I'd have liked to have been a part of - cheers Hilary

Oh, that's interesting! I only know Headington because of CS Lewis!
