Photos of Another Day Trip! Also, IWSG Day and WRiTE Club

It's Insecure Writer's Support Group day!

According to Ninja Captain Alex, its purpose is "to share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!"

Well, I'm feeling insecure about how little writing I've been doing. That feeling only comes from comparing my lack of progress to others' leaps and bounds, though.

And there's no call for that sort of thinking! Hopefully all the various real life happenings will be good story fodder someday when I do get back into the writing groove.

If you haven't been writing as often as you'd like, you can still support other writers!

For instance, Jessica Bell has a new book - White Lady - coming soon and she's giving away a copy for free to everyone who signs up to the "Two Lies and a Truth" blog tour (to take place from 1 to 31 October).

Details and sign-up form here.

And you can visit the WRiTE Club site and vote for a new story twice per week! There are lots of fun story snips this time around.

We took another day trip!

This time to Sion, the capital of the Valais region of the Alps. It's situated in a valley between many higher peaks, and has been inhabited for thousands and thousands of years. We visited the Valère basilica/castle, which began to be built in the 12th century.

Brunch spot

View of the mountains.
It was an overcast day, which was lucky as we did lots of walking and climbing, and it might have been too hot otherwise.

City hall

Valere basilica

Mountains on the other side of the castle

The 15th century organ, one of the oldest functioning organs in the world.
There are stairs behind the wall (I was wondering how to get up there, myself)

A depiction of Saint Sebastian, painted in 1437.
1437! That's even older than the period of two of my stories!

It was maybe 17 degrees Celsius the day we visited. Funny to see snow - above the clouds - on the heights!

Feeling on top of the world

Hmm, I fixed this photo, I swear.
Anyway, it's a tower down in the town called the Sorcerer's Tower,
in reference to the witch trials that used to take place inside.

Happy Canada Day and Fourth of July and weekend to everyone!

Whew! That looks like one epic trip! I'm super stoked for Jessica's release, and I think her books sounds amazing.
Dig the castle!
We all have spurts of writing and non-writing. No worries.

Happy 4th weekend (or Canada Day if you're there) to you too! Jessica's WHITE LADY looks creepily good! Great cover. Yeaaaah, never compare yourself to other writers' progress...we're all at diff points on the road to publication, and some roads are longer and more "scenic" to get there (like mine LOL). We definitely have to LIVE to have experiences to incorporate into our writing, so you can think of it as "research." :)

Nice pictures--looks like a great trip!
Beautiful pictures, especially the one of the mountains. And don't feel bad about writing right now; contrary to popular belief, it just isn't always possible to write every day. I've never been able to write every day, though I wish I could.

No, I'm not writing much lately. Not fiction anyway; I'm swamped with court reports right now. I'm not sure what I'll be doing in October.

Awesome pictures. looks like it was fun.

It is hard, when a book is going slow and everyone else's seems to be going fast. We all write at different paces, but it is hard to rememer that sometimes

Can I live in your closet? I love all the places you've been since you moved. {{{hugs}}} for the writing. You'll get back to it in good time. ;-)

Day trips are one of the things I love most about living in different places. You really get to know more about the whole place. Great photos!
That looks like an amazing trip! What an interesting spot :) And I hear you on the not writing a whole lot insecurity--I find myself in that spot a lot, especially during the school year. But I think you're right that what you're up to will definitely make great story fodder!

Ooh!

I love the photos and what you have to say about the writing ebb.

I keep meaning to post to IWSG...I think I'll put that in my plans for the rest of the year, since life will be calmer, after July!

I loved this so much, I'm saving it!

Yay to day trips! Call those research for future books because you know you'll remember them when you're writing in the future. Comparing ourselves to others is never a good idea. I think everyone goes through phases where they're writing a lot/not at all and when you're not writing, it seems like everyone else is!

Sigh...sounds awesome trip!

When my husband stops frightening me to death with health problems, I'm looking forward to finishing my novels and more school visits, Deniz! :0)

Gorgeous photos, Deniz. I've visited Switzerland and the Swiss area of Italy, and seen similar sights to these.

I totally can relate to the insecure feeling of comparing yourself to what others are achieving. But you're right, we all move at our own pace and that's okay!

What a beautiful trip! I loved looking at your photos. :) It is so important to spend time enjoying the sights around us. Don't feel bad about not writing as much as you would like- the time will come. I know I feel the same way that you do- but really, we need to explore (think research), live, rejuvenate, and write. :)

Thanks for sharing!

What a cool day trip. I took one to Paris from London once. It's so great to hop around Europe like that. The next time I go, I need to do more of that.

I love Jessica's cover. I also feel insecure when I'm not doing much writing.
