IWSG Day and Lara Lacombe's Latest!

Today is Insecure Writer's Support Group Day!

Really exciting question for this month: What do you love about the genre you write in most often?

What's not to love? I love writing romance for many reasons, but mostly because I get to explore that spark between two characters who meet and fall in love. Not only do they get to start learning about each other, but they also resolve some of their own issues in the process -- and there's always a happily ever after!

Speaking of romance, I've just read the latest by Lara Lacombe, Colton K-9 Bodyguard, part of the Coltons of Red Ridge series (with each book written by a different author, and a mystery that carries on throughout the series).

"This protector broke her heart and is back to save her

K-9 officer Micah Shaw never thought tracking a serial killer would lead him to discover the woman he once loved near death. Vulnerable and under siege, Bea Colton needs him now more than ever. Their relationship didn’t succeed years ago, but their second-chance attraction is an all-too-deadly distraction: one that could kill!"

I love the way the characters' backstories are set up right away, and even though I haven't read other books in the Red Ridge series, it wasn't difficult to follow the relationships between all the Coltons. As soon as Micah saw Bea again after many years, I could feel the spark between them, and was eager for them to resolve the issues from their past and to come together.

And that's another reason I love romance -- the sense of fate, and the feeling that the hero and heroine are meant for each other above all others.

Just for fun, then, I'm adding my current story playlist here again, for The Charm of Time, since I've added quite a few songs:

And oh yes, ROW80 -- I'm up to my ears in school, and also drafting for the fun side project. Haven't done any edits this week on the main novels! I need to come up with a new schedule...

Which genre do you love to read and/or write?

I love romance, too. That's why all of the stories I write, no matter the genre, has romance in it. :) I just can't resist.
Each written by a different author? That must be challenging.
Hi Deniz - yes I'm like Alex ... tying the loose ends together ... or romantic knots. Good luck with school and all those ideas for your fun project - all the best - Hilary
Nothing beats a HEA story.
In a world threatened by negative forces, we need all the positivity we can get. HEA closes that gap!
I hadn't heard of this series before, but it looks very interesting. So totally agree with you on how romance is about becoming complete as person. Not just the two-make-one bit, but the one-finding-him/her-self as the story unravels.

And I love a god mystery. Definitely must put this on my list.
Yes, I think love stories are great, Deniz, and the more problems to a happy ending the better. But the romances for me must be set in the Regency period, I can't get enough of Georgette Heyer's books!

If a story doesn't have at least a little romance, it's not true to life. *shrugs* But that said, I do especially love that aspect of any story too.

The world building in the paranormal genre-which I can build to what I want. And adding in the romance.
