Antarctica and Robert Swan

Image
got to attend a talk given by Robert Swan! From his website: " Robert Swan is a world class Speaker and Polar Explorer. He was the first person in history to walk to both the North and South Poles, earning him the high distinction of OBE, Officer of the Order of the British Empire and the Polar Medal by Her Majesty the Queen." I asked about sound in Antarctica; he said it's so quiet, when you stop moving, that you can hear your blood moving about inside you! The United Nations flag at the North Pole! I learned that there are 16 years to go until 2041, which will see "the re-negotiation of moratorium on mining in Antarctica, which designates Antarctica as a “natural reserve, devoted to peace and science”" .  Have you visited or do you know anyone who's visited Antarctica?
