egemite!

 

I tried vegemite for the first time, after I got a jar at an international fair. It's yummy! Even when I did it wrong, and tried it on a baguette slice, without butter!

I tasted marmite decades ago, so I thought it was time to re-taste that, too.

And then I discovered there's a Swiss version, cenovis! In original and salt-free forms!

Of course I also tried it with chocolate! I'm a 3 and 4 on the vegemite scale!

Every time I eat some, this song replays in my head!

Hi Deniz - marmite for me ... unfortunately now I need the saltless one ... but we were brought up on marmite with toast when we were ill, or bovril for a hot drink ... both delicious ... but I always have marmite or equivalent in cupboard now. No - no - no not with chocolate!!! Each to his own or her own though ... mostly definitely not me. I didn't like vegemite when I tried it ... I'm off to your other posts now ... cheers Hilary

My first introduction to Vegemite sandwich was the song... I tried it but still prefer peanut butter and jam.

I don't know what either of those are, and I'd be nervous to try it! What does it taste like? Is it sweet or savory? You said you tried it with chocolate, so I'm assuming not too savory?

It's definitely savoury! Somehow mixed well with the chocolate, but I like chocolate too much to keep mixing it with other stuff, ha ha!
When it comes down to it, I prefer butter and jam, too. And the song always gets stuck in my head whenever I make a vegemite sandwich!
