Two New Releases, a Famous Cat, and Updates

Updates!

ROW80: So so. I've been writing, but the editing front is not moving. And I haven't sent a query in a while.

NaNoWriMo: Awesome. I hope I can keep up the momentum. So many unexpected twists and turns happening in Captive of the Sea, Santiago and Mawdlen's story. And, I hope, the dreaded middle isn't so dreaded because I'm hoping there'll be some bedroom scenes round about then...

Life: Steady as it goes. I've been keeping up my schedule (having switched the Friday and Saturday tasks so that weekends are completely unplugged) through the first week of NaNo, and even managed not to get overly distracted by joining Twitter.

Exercise: I add this just to note that I've joined a gym for the first time in my life. No time like the present, right? Michael and Alex had some great exercise and health tips the other day. Anyone have gym advice for me?

Two new books out now-ish:

And the Crowd Goes Wild!, A Global Gathering of Sports Poems: an international anthology of 50 poems written by 50 writers from 10 countries
"From bowling to baseball, polo to ping-pong, and softball to soccer, And the Crowd Goes Wild is a unique anthology of 50 poems that pays joyous tribute to a wide spectrum of sports. Poets who hail from several nations, including Canada, the United States, New Zealand, and Ireland, share a mix of thoughtful and humorous perspectives on sports. Acclaimed poets Carol-Ann Hoyte and Heidi Bee Roemer have edited the anthology, and Kevin Sylvester's dynamic illustrations capture the highs and lows of the world of sports."

Win a signed Advance Reader Copy of Liz Fichera's Hooked!

And don't forget her pre-order promotion:
"Everyone who pre-orders Hooked by 31 December 31 2012 will receive a free music download. Listen to the original song, "Choose My Way," inspired by the novel.
You can purchase Hooked from any retailer, in any format, paperback or e-book. However, anyone who purchases from The Poisoned Pen will receive an autographed copy. They ship worldwide!
Everyone who pre-orders by 31 December 2012 will be entered to win a HarlequinTEEN gift basket. The gift basket will include an assortment of HarlequinTEEN young adult titles, two additional copies of Hooked for your friends, notepads, and other fun goodies."

Finally, I'm adding another item to my next-time-I'm-in-London list: visit Samuel Johnson's cat:

Where will you be travelling to next?

Gym advice? From someone who hasn't done that since she retired 8+ years ago? ; )

But I do have some. Start slow and build up so that you won't hurt yourself. It does get better once it becomes the routine. Of cousre, John and I ate out every time we went so I didn't have to go home and cook. What can I say, my man knows what's important. ; )

I'm excited that your new WIP is going well. I _love_ NaNo!

I like the eating out idea a lot, Zan Marie!

Happy to do it, Liz :-)

Meanwhile, I forgot it was IWSG day today! I'll have to post about that on Sunday, a little late...

I used to have free membership to a gym because I worked in their day care. I miss it. My advice would be try a lot of things, classes/machines/weights, and find what you like. Just have fun with it, challenge yourself, but not to the point of stressing.

Looks like you have a lot going on! A whole weekend unplugged! Wow, that's impressive! I'm sure you get a lot done!

I have to confess I'm not much of a gym person. :) Too sweaty.

I haven't been in London for a long while. Should go again. :)

Good for you! Glad you joined the gym. It's important to keep your body healthy, especially since we writers spend most of the time sitting!

Glad you joined the gym. Thanks for posting and introducing us to Liz Fichera's Hooked!

Nas
Best of luck keeping up the NaNo momentum!
My gym advice - Have FUN!!!! Whatever that means for you. Challenge yourself just past your comfort zone.

Go as a pleasure rather than a chore.

In other news:

I have blog envy. There is something about your layout and content that is aesthetically pleasing to me... I hope to figure it out before winter, when I expect I will be sprucing up my online homes...

You are making fine progress, and I love that your story is breathing life...mine is too. I was flying earlier today, but now the characters are preoccupied with their own lives, and leaving me to guess....

It's all cycles, I suppose!

Looking forward to keeping tabs on your progrss through the rest of NaNo, and beyond...

Me, too, LR, I can't wait to go back.

Yay, come back to Canada, Talli!

You're right nutschell - sitting and snacking...

Hope you like it, Nas!

Thanks, J. R.

Aww, thanks Shan. And here I was thinking it was time for a change...

Thanks, Carol! I love reading uninterrupted by going online.
