IWSG Day, Words I've Invented, and Yet More Snow!

Welcome to the blog!

It’s Insecure Writer’s Support Group day!

Let’s rock the neurotic writing world!

Our Twitter handle is @TheIWSG and hashtag is #IWSG.

February 3 question - Blogging is often more than just sharing stories. It’s often the start of special friendships and relationships. Have you made any friends through the blogosphere?

The awesome co-hosts for the February 3 posting of the IWSG are Louise - Fundy Blue , Jennifer Lane, Mary Aalgaard, Patsy Collins at Womagwriter, and Nancy Gideon!

I am so happy to have made friends through the blogosphere! I celebrated many of them throughout the A to Z Blogging Challenge in 2017, one fellow blogger per day! It's awesome to see how many of us have kepy up our blogs for so many years.

I haven't quite met my ROW80 goals. I've been submitting short pieces here and there, hoping for a bite! Overall, though, I've been reading and knitting and baking. And we keep getting snow!

A Linus blanket, upon request, and Clementine Cake by Nigella Lawson!

Snow in the evening, no filter!

The river behind the house is rising...

...so is the cake!

Starting a knitting project I've had for many years! I bought this kit ages ago, possibly in Kingston or Fredericton

Taking a break to bake Roman Honey Cake!

Finished one of the fingerless cuffs!

Two other things I've just thought of:

The Whisky Trench Riders are on Spotify!

Also, I thought it would be fun to show a list of words we've invented in our family:
Fussle: Loving on a pet, especially by ruffling fur with your fingers
Nekechuk: Satisfying stationery, including sticky notes
Çık: The magic that causes stuffed animals and dolss to become sentient
Foss: General contentment
Fish wrinkles: I invented this when I was a teen to be a replacement swear word. I still sometimes use it!
SipSip: Frodo the cat, the inspiration for Kedi
Shmuzz: Sam the cat, seen at the bottom of my knitting blog

Have you and your family invented any words?

Hi Deniz - it's a great community ... especially this group ... I consider myself lucky to be around you and many others. Wonderful words ... and yes snow even here in the north. Great to see the kids - while that honey cake is seeping over here ... I'd love a slice. All the best - Hilary
Family invented words are fun.
Enjoy your snow!

Nice knitting jobs!

I love your invented words. That is a fun idea. I had a friend in high school from India and she taught me two fun made up languages, similar to pig latin, that she would speak with her mother. I never thought about sharing those with my kids until this moment!

The cake looks good. I have met a number of bloggers over the years-in a number of different states and two foreign countries (Indonesia and Malaysia.

You got some very cute snow there. My area got dumped on and declared a disaster emergency. It was up to my thighs yesterday. That's a nice fingerless cuff.

Invented words are the best. We also have some. That cake looks really yummy. I love snow but it's difficult to have it here in the Dragon Cave. :)

Any of that cake left? I'll be right over:)

Thank you, both! I've made more cake, come round for a slice! :-)
I will occasionally use corn flakes as an alternative cuss word. I'm not entirely sure why. It isn't as if I'm averse to using actual cuss words, and I don't dislike corn flakes.
