IWSG Day and Druid's Moon Giveaway!
It's Insecure Writer's Support Group Day!
Insecure Writer's Support Group
A database resource site and support group for writers and authors. Featuring weekly guests and tips, a monthly blogfest gathering, a Facebook group, a book club, and thousands of links – all to benefit writers! #IWSG
Website / Facebook Group / Twitter / Book Club / Reedsy Discount / Past Issues
Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!
Posting: The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group day. Post your thoughts on your own blog. Talk about your doubts and the fears you have conquered. Discuss your struggles and triumphs. Offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling. Visit others in the group and connect with your fellow writer - aim for a dozen new people each time - and return comments. This group is all about connecting!
The awesome co-hosts for the June 1 posting of the IWSG are SE White, Cathrina Constantine, Natalie Aguire, Joylene Nowell Butler, and Jacqui Murray!
Struggling with something to say?
Every month, we announce a question that members can answer in their IWSG post. These questions may prompt you to share advice, insight, a personal experience, or a story. Include your answer to the question in your IWSG post or let it inspire your post if you are struggling with something to say.
June 1 question: When the going gets tough writing the story, how do you keep yourself writing to the end? If have not started the writing yet, why do you think that is and what do you think could help you find your groove and start?
You ready?
Let’s rock the neurotic writing world!
Ooh, this is a great question. I find instant feedback is very gratifying -- if I happen to be drafting at the same time as author friends, it's exciting to share snips and bolster each other.
It's a similar vibe to writing collaborative stories!
It also helps if I stick to a daily writing habit and, at the end of each session, leave myself a question to answer next time. My own way of tricking my brain into wondering "what happens next?" I need to come back and write, to find out the answers!
It's also giveaway time!
Lyne Vanlith, an archaeologist who seeks a logical explanation to any mystery, discovers an ancient Druidic curse on her first dig. When the signs foretold by the curse descend on her, Lyne can't find a reasonable interpretation.
And that's even before a Beast rescues her from a monstrous sea-creature. She drops a grateful kiss on the snout of the Beast, who transforms into a man, Frederick Cunnick, Baron of Lansladron. Lyne is meant to be Beauty to his Beast-and break the curse forever.
Now both spellkeeper and monster are targeting Lyne. She must take up her legendary role, to defeat the curse and save Frederick-and herself. Instead of logic, for the first time, Lyne must trust her heart.
I'll host an international giveaway once the book is published!
Comments
I like the idea of asking a question to answer for the next writing session. Great way to keep the brain engaged subliminally.
Sounds like you've got a good system to keep going. I don't think I've ever done collaborative writing. I think I'm both too picky on what goes into my stories, and too unfocused when I go about writing them. I have to have a bit of an idea of where I'm going to continue on, and that doesn't work when someone else's brain is driving. :)
