Insecure Writer's Support Group

Website / Facebook Group / Twitter / Book Club

Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!
Posting: The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group day. Post your thoughts on your own blog. Talk about your doubts and the fears you have conquered. Discuss your struggles and triumphs. Offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling. Visit others in the group and connect with your fellow writer - aim for a dozen new people each time - and return comments. This group is all about connecting!
Be sure to link to this page and display the badge in your post. And please be sure your avatar links back to your blog! Our Twitter handle is @TheIWSG and hashtag is

The awesome co-hosts for the November 1 posting of the IWSG
are PJ Colando, Jean Davis, Lisa Buie
Collard, and Diedre Knight!
Every month, we announce a question that members can answer in their IWSG post. These questions may prompt you to share advice, insight, a personal experience or story. Include your answer to the question in your IWSG post or let it inspire your post if you are struggling with something to say.
Remember, the question is optional!
November 1 question: November is National Novel Writing Month.
Have you ever participated? If not, why not?
Short answer: I have!
Long answer: I've been participating in NaNoWriMo every year since 2010, and have done a few CampNaNoWriMo sessions, too!
I've only not finished once, and last year I finished early for the first time (then have spent this past year writing 500,000+ words of other stories, which is a very new experience for me! Links are available on my ko-fi page (yes, I'm set up to receive donations, but any and all amounts received will go back to supporting other creators!)).
Larksong, which I've been posting on the blog, was a NaNo story in 2013!
And Druid's Moon was a CampNaNo story that year!
I think NaNo is a great way to get into the write every day habit and to feel excited about your story, especially if you're sharing and reading snips with other writers.
Meanwhile...
ello, it's contest time!
Summer Fire is out in the wild
and the anniversary of publication month is coming up!
The Dirty Bits from Carina Press "give you what you want, when you want it. Designed to be read in an hour or two," these "microromances are guaranteed to pack a punch and deliver a happily-ever-after."
"'You know how it is with Canadians. We come alive in the summer.'
Ayse had resigned herself to an interesting—but in the end unromantic—trip visiting family in Istanbul. Great-aunts, touristy sites and endless meals…until she meets fellow doctor Hakan.
All tanned skin and defined muscle under his polo shirt, his kisses cut off her breath, making her dizzy. His every touch is a thrill.
Ayse wants all of Hakan at once. His sweet mouth, the heat of his body against hers, their heartbeats slowing together.
A holiday romance might give her some blazing memories come the lonely winter, but maybe, just maybe, the fire between them doesn’t have to be as fleeting as the summer.
For those times when size does matter. The Dirty Bits from Carina Press: quick and dirty, just the way we like it.
One-click with confidence. This title is part of the Carina Press Romance Promise: all the romance you’re looking for with an HEA/HFN. It’s a promise!"
Here's a lovely shot of Heybeliada, one of the Princes Islands, which features in part of the story.

I love NaNo as well - it helped me find "my way" of writing. I think at least half of my published novels started during NaNo!
