doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!
Posting:
The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group
day. Post your thoughts on your own blog. Talk about your doubts and the fears you have conquered. Discuss your struggles and triumphs. Offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling. Visit others in the group and connect with your fellow writer - aim for a dozen new people each time - and return comments. This group is all about connecting! Our Twitter handle is @TheIWSG and hashtag is #IWSG
Let’s rock the neurotic writing world!
The awesome co-hosts for the August 7 posting of the IWSG are Feather Stone, Kim Lajevardi, Diedre Knight, C. Lee McKenzie, and Sarah - The Faux Fountain Pen
Every month, we announce a question that members can answer in their IWSG post. These questions may prompt you to share advice, insight, a personal experience or story. Include your answer to the question in your IWSG post or let it inspire your post if you are struggling with something to say.
August 7 question - Do you use AI in your writing and if so how? Do you use it for your posts? Incorporate it into your stories? Use it for research? Audio?
Ooh, great question!
I don't knowingly use AI at all, and especially not in my writing. AI ought to be automating tasks like budget tracking, and helping with medical screening, and those sorts of useful things. It doesn't need to be trained to copy the creative output of humans, particularly since it can't ever be fully trained, not when it doesn't have access to every written word and every work of art (not everything is on the Internet!). Maybe this will change in the future, or some aspects of the situation will change, but for now, I'd rather have the work of bill paying automated, among other chores, so that I have more time to write!
I've just read the brilliant Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro, so this is very much at the forefront of my mind. I think if we once start creating sentient AI, we should definitely be more respectful of the entities that evolve. But we should be taking the time to consider all the ethical questions before we go full steam ahead!
Athens photos!
We were only there for four days, and it wasn't enough! I can't wait to go back!
First up, we have...beach!
Where have you vacationed recently?
Comments
Yes, AI needs to be used like that rather than for creative stuff.
