Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!
Posting: The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group day. Post your thoughts on your own blog. Talk about your doubts and the fears you have conquered. Discuss your struggles and triumphs.
Offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling. Visit others in the group and connect with your fellow writer - aim for a dozen new people each time - and return comments. This group is all about connecting!
Let’s rock the neurotic writing world!
The awesome co-hosts for the December 4 posting of the IWSG are Ronel, Deniz, Pat Garcia, Olga Godim, and Cathrina Constantine!
Every month, we announce a question that members can answer in their IWSG post. These questions may prompt you to share advice, insight, a personal experience or story. Include your answer to the question in your IWSG post or let it inspire your post if you are struggling with something to say.
Remember, the question is optional
December 4 question: Do you write cliffhangers at the end of your stories?
Are they a turn-off to you as a writer and/or a reader?
I don't! I love writing fun twists, if I can think of them, but I always feature a Happy Ever After ending, even if it's just a hint at a peaceful future...
I love the word swag! And we have IWSG swag!
All of us here are volunteers and the domain name costs money. The little extra from swag purchases goes to that domain. And it’s your chance to show the world you are insecure and proud!

Our Flag Means Death news!
Last weekend I attended a Starfury Conventions event -- the Republic of Pirates! A convention all about Our Flag Means Death. My first-ever convention and my first Starfury event!
I hope to share photos and titbits later on, but for now, I've got a playlist of all the songs mentioned in the panel sessions!
Recently, we celebrated the anniversary of this event, too -- the time a Whisky Trench Riders song was chosen to play on Hockey Night in Canada!
And I've got a new poem in the latest UN Mental Health and Well-Being collection! Sauti: Poems of Hope
No cliffhangers here, only hugs!Do you write with cliffhangers?
What's a good poem you've recently read?
Comments
I don't mind having Plot twist. In fact I find them interesting. I don't like Cliffhangers and don't buy a book that indicates it is a cliffhanger.
Have a Merry Christmas

I returned to say thank you for co-hosting.

They host fan conventions in the UK, and this was the first time I'd ever been to one <3
Thanks for co-hosting.

Balancing Act
Plot twists are fine but cliffhangers depends on certain factors. Like the genre and waiting period between books. For romance books, cliffhanger and HFN (happy for now) endings are written off. Other genres like fantasy, mystery and thriller/suspense are more doable. Especially if all the book series is published. If still ongoing the wait time until the next book isn't too long. And if it's worth the wait.
